Boston Dynamics Company showed a new generation of Atlas robots

On April 16, Boston Dynamics, a subsidiary of Hyundai, announced the end of the development of Atlas robots. The reason for this was problems related to the outdated design of the Atlas, which could not be solved. A day later, Boston Dynamics showed a completely new Atlas robot.

Atlas of the second generation – huge bug work. Yes, there are no hydraulic components in the new mechanism. The humanoid is now fully electric. The updated robot is much more stable and flexible than the first “Atlas” prototypes.

Judging by published photos and videos, the humanoid has a round head with ring illumination. Behind the dark glass hide 8 cameras and sensors that help him navigate in space. The robot does not have a display to display a virtual face. On the "occiput" the antenna of the car is visible, the functions of which are not yet fully understood.

"The new Atlas is designed based on decades of research and confirms our commitment to creating the most capable and useful mobile robots that solve the most complex tasks in today's industry", – say Boston Dynamics.

Boston Dynamics promises to share details about the robot soon. The team claims that the robot will be “the world's most dynamic humanoid robot.” In the provided video, the novelty was able to rise with the help of one rotation of both legs.

It is reported that the new Atlas is already working at Hyundai plants. In the future, they will be able to help people both in everyday life and in production.
