Roland Roy McMurtry served as chief justice and Attorney General of Ontario

Former Chief Justice and Attorney General of Ontario Roland Roy McMurtry, who among other things oversaw the #x27;implementation of bilingualism in the province's courts, died.

Mr. McMurtry also chaired an independent review into policing following the G20 summit in Toronto in 2010.

He was also high- Commissioner of Canada to the United Kingdom and he received the Order of Ontario and Canada, underlines the Ontario Attorney General, Doug Downey, in a message on X (formerly Twitter).

The Assembly of the Francophonie of the ;Ontario says it is saddened by his death, noting on X his leadership role in the implementation of bilingualism in our courts of justice.
