An elderly woman Lidia Stepanivna, who walked about 10 km from occupied Ocheretyny, received a gift from Ukrzaliznytsia. She was presented with the certificate of the honorary head of train 111/112 Kyiv – Avdiyivka.

This was reported on the Facebook page of Ukrzaliznytsia.

It was not so long ago that 98-year-old Lydia Stepanivna walked about 10 km from the village of Ocheretine to the controlled territory, so as not to remain in the occupation, she flew around the whole country.

We immediately felt the familiar #irony here, checked – and did not make a mistake: Lidia Stepanivna worked for Donetsk Railway as a conductor for 40 years (!) – wrote in Ukrzaliznytsia.

On Friday, May 24, the Ukrzaliznytsia team presented a certificate of the honorary conductor of train 111/112 Kyiv – Avdiivka which historically passed through her native Ocheretyn, to which she sincerely dreams of returning.

They visited Donetsk region together with Dmytro Komarov to tell the story of the iron grandmother to the world, and brought with them a year's supply of railway tea, an exclusive coaster, a branded hoodie “Providnytsia” and flowers from a grandson who follows his grandmother's business – he works as a conductor of diplomatic flights.
