6 years ago he lost his life 100 meters from his home. “Big Brother” stars mourned Janusz Dzięcioł at funeral

Janusz Dzięcioł became an icon of the Polish version of the reality show “Big Brother”.

Janusz Dzięcioł gained nationwide popularity thanks to his participation in the program “Big Brother”, where in 2001 he triumphed in the first edition. His victory brought him not only the title, but also a cash prize of 500 thousand złoty, which allowed him to fulfill his dreams, including building a house for his family.

Life after “Big Brother”

After the program ended, Janusz Dzięcioł took up work as a city guard and also got involved in politics, showing that life after TV fame can be just as active. In 2019, after “Big Brother” returned to the screens, Dzięcioł expressed his opinion on changes to Big Brother's voice. He admitted that he would have preferred the original voice that he was familiar with.

I don't want it to sound bad, with all due respect, of course, but I would prefer that other voice. I'm used to it, I have a lot of sympathy for that voice, and somehow “Big Brother” sounds strange to me coming from a woman. Which doesn't mean, of course, that it won't be better. Maybe many people will think that you're a better manager than Jarek – he said during an appearance on the “Dzień dobry TVN” program.

Tragic end

On December 6, 2019, tragic news of his death in an accident that took place right next to his home spread across Poland.

He died in a tragic road accident at a railway crossing near Grudziądz, just 100 meters from his home.

The scene of the accident was inconspicuous, but the lack of appropriate security measures and unfavorable weather conditions could have contributed to this tragedy. Initial reports indicated fog that limited visibility, as well as blinding sunlight. Residents of nearby towns were shocked by the accident and emphasized the need to improve safety at railway crossings.

Janusz Dzięcioł will remain in the memory of many as a person who won the hearts of television viewers. His sudden death surprised both his loved ones and his fans, who recall his participation in the program and his personality that attracted attention.
