Visually, autumn is a beautiful time of year; colorful leaves create a dramatic backdrop. But autumn can also be an inconvenient and sometimes dangerous time of year for drivers in Ukraine.
Here are the four most important tips for driving in autumn. They were shared by Crash Services.
1. Take care of your car's essentials
Your car has so many different parts that they all need to work properly to ensure your safety and trouble-free journeys. Some of these include the battery, headlights, tires, and engine.
Most car batteries last between three and five years, and whether you've changed them recently or not, it's always a good idea to keep an eye on them.< /p>
Dark evenings are approaching, and as a result, you will need light more than ever. Make it a rule to check all headlights every two to three weeks; ask a family member to help you so that you can sit in the driver's seat and turn on each light while the family member stands outside the car and checks that all the lights are on.
Check your tires throughout the year, but especially in the fall; by law, the tread depth of your car's tires must be at least 1.6 millimeters. Make it a point to check your tire pressure regularly, especially before long trips.
Also check all the fluids in your car and replace them if necessary; this applies to antifreeze and engine oil.
2. Be careful on country streets and roads
Autumn heralds the beginning of falling leaves on the roads, dark evenings and poor visibility. Country roads that are not properly maintained are especially dangerous for local drivers.
Fallen leaves can make the road more slippery, so always be careful and slow down. Leaves can also hide potholes that can damage your car or affect its handling.

< 3. Beware of the sun
In the fall, the sun is lower in the sky and its glare can cause serious visibility problems while driving.
Keep your windshield clean and free of smudges and use a sun visor (or a pair of sunglasses) to avoid glare.
If you are driving and the sun glare appears on the road, slow down; sun glare dangerously affects visibility.
4. Top up your windscreen washer fluid and check your wipers
Rain, soft leaves, mud and sand mean our cars are always dealing with some of the windscreen's enemies.
Expect the wipers to be used constantly to repel rain and all manner of insects. Make sure that the wiper blades are in good condition, and if not, replace them immediately.
Check the washer fluid level regularly, because in the fall you will have to use a lot of washer fluid to clean the windshield of dirt and grime.
