200-megapixel camera and other features of Xiaomi 15 Ultra: what you should know about the expected smartphone

The Xiaomi 15 series is preparing to conquer the market with three flagship models — Xiaomi 15, 15 Pro and 15 Ultra. All smartphones will receive the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, but each of them will have its own unique features. While the debut of the standard version and the Pro model is expected already this month, the premiere of the 15 Ultra is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025. According to rumors, this smartphone will have an even more advanced camera than its predecessors.

According to the leaks, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be equipped with a 200-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL HP9 periscopic camera. The same camera is already installed on the Vivo X100 Ultra, which debuted earlier this year in China. The new sensor will have a focal length of 100 mm, an aperture of f/2.6 and will support 4.3x optical zoom, which will ensure exceptional image quality when shooting distant objects.

In addition to the periscope camera, Xiaomi 15 Ultra will receive a 50-megapixel main camera LYT-900 with support for optical image stabilization (OIS), as well as two 50-megapixel Sony IMX858 cameras — one for ultra-wide-angle shooting, the other — for telephoto. The main camera will be even more powerful thanks to the one-inch sensor, which will provide excellent detail and color reproduction.

According to sources, Xiaomi plans to release the 15 Ultra after the Chinese New Year, indicating a likely release in or around February. the first quarter of 2025. The release of the smartphone after the holiday period will allow the company to increase interest in the flagship and ensure high sales.

Judging by the characteristics, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be a significant step forward in the field of mobile photography, offering users professional-level capabilities. Other cameras in the device will remain the same as in the previous model — Xiaomi 14 Ultra, however, the new periscopic lens promises a significant improvement in the quality of pictures when shooting at a long distance.
