NATO told Ukraine that they do not want the country's membership in the organization. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Igor Zhovkva.

"(Ukraine is told that) you are not members of (NATO), because we do not want you. NATO tells us that it will not give us anything, – the official said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Zhovkva added that the NATO summit in Madrid also did not live up to Kyiv's expectations. According to him, the Ukrainian authorities asked the Alliance for weapons even before the start of the special operation of the Russian Federation, already after February 24 — about no-fly zone and membership in NATO, but Ukraine still hasn't received  no answers".

The NATO summit is taking place in Madrid from June 28-30.
