You haven't tried something like this yet: we are preparing onion cabbage rolls on Sunday

It would seem that cabbage rolls are associated with a filling wrapped in a cabbage leaf. But if you replace it with onions?

This is what chef Hector Jimenez-Bravo suggested on his Instagram. He prepared onion dumplings that will definitely decorate your table.

In different regions, cabbage rolls are prepared differently. Someone wraps it in cabbage, someone in grape leaves, and someone in onion,

Ingredients:

  • Onion – 2 pieces;
  • Carrots – 2 pieces
  • Garlic – 3 cloves;
  • Minced meat – 500 grams;
  • Rice groats – 1 cup ;
  • Pomegranate juice – ¼ cup;
  • Fresh mint;
  • Juice of ½ lemon;
  • Tomato puree – 2 tablespoons ;
  • Pine nuts – 40 grams;
  • Salt – to taste.

For the sauce:

  • Water in which onions were cooked – 2.5 cups;
  • Tomato puree – 2 tablespoons;
  • Pomegranate juice – ¼ cup;
  • Silan – 2 spoons ;
  • Salt – 2 tablespoons.

>Method of preparation:

  1. Peel the onion, cut from one side to the center and cook in salted water for about 20 minutes.
  2. Remove the onion and save the water for cooking sauce.
  3. Fry the onion in a pan with a small amount of oil until golden, add carrots and garlic and fry for 3 minutes, stirring.
  4. Add minced meat and fry until the meat changes color.< /li>
  5. Add pomegranate juice, tomato puree, chopped mint and fry. Make the filling by adding rice to the frying.
  6. Drain the remaining water from the onion and separate each layer.
  7. Form the cabbage rolls, put them in a wide, low pot, lined with parchment, close to each other .
  8. In a saucepan, mix the pomegranate, silane, salt and tomato puree.
  9. Add the water in which we cooked the onion, bring to a boil and pour the sauce into the saucepan with the onion.

  12. Send to the oven heated to 180° for 2 hours.
  13. Delicious!
