Ukrainian athlete, Olympic high jump champion Yaroslava Maguchykh officially became the world record holder.

The International Federation ratified the triumphant high jump that Yaroslava performed at the competition in Paris this summer, jumping 2.10 meters. This is reported on the official website of the federation.

Ukrainian Maguchykh improved one of the oldest world records when she jumped 2.10m on July 7 at the Paris tournament Meeting de Paris, which is part of the Diamond League , the message says.

Yaroslava Maguchih's successes:

Maguchih took the world record in July at the stage of the Diamond League in Paris, where the Ukrainian competed against the Australian Nikola Olislagers. Both athletes cleared the bar by 2.01 meters on the second attempt. Olislagers then failed three times on the 2.03-meter bar, but Maguchih cleared it on the second attempt.

After winning, Maguchih raised the bar to 2.07 meters and cleared it again on the second attempt, doing so with enough stock to set a record for Ukraine. Then she raised the bar to 2.10m – one centimeter higher than the world record set by Stefka Kostadinova at the 1987 World Championships, and took it on the first attempt.

After Maguchich's ratification, she officially became the current holder world record – the only Ukrainian woman in athletics with the best active result in history. The last time among Ukrainians this title was held by Nataliya Dobrynska – in the women's pentathlon, before the achievement was surpassed in 2023 by the Belgian Nafissata Thiam.
