Ukrainian track and field athlete Yaroslava Maguchih, who won a gold medal in high jump at the Olympic Games in Paris, donated 1 million hryvnias from the Olympic prize money to the needs of the Armed Forces.

The athlete announced this on her Twitter page (X).

High jumper Yaroslav Maguchykh donated a total of two and a half million hryvnias from prize money to Ukrainian volunteers. So far, she has transferred the prizes to the accounts of seven organizations.

22-year-old Yaroslava Maguchih received 175 thousand dollars for the Olympic “gold”, which is equivalent to 7.2 million hryvnias. From this amount, the athlete made several donations: she donated to help the Defense Forces of Ukraine and transferred funds to animal rights activists.

More about donating:

  • One million prize jumpers donated to help animals, transferring funds to the accounts of five organizations, including UAnimals.
  • 500,000 hryvnias was transferred by Maguchih to the organization “Angels of Azov”, which takes care of wounded and dead soldiers. The funds from the Olympic champion's donation were used to pay for the treatment of soldiers with severe neuro- and craniocerebral injuries.
  • Yaroslava donated one million hryvnias to the joint collection of Igor Lachenkov and BF “Ukraine. Dopomozemo”. Funds from the charity collection will be used to purchase cars for combat units of the Defense Forces.

We are used to doing most of the good things quietly, but many people convinced me that it is time to change this habit in myself. As you can see, it works. Today, 1 million hryvnias went to the bank of Ihor Lachenkov, who is collecting 12 million hryvnias for cars for units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. Currently, active hostilities continue in various directions, and the defenders need these cars more than ever, the athlete said.

Also, Maguchih, together with the Olympic medalists – fencer Olga Harlan and Greco-Roman wrestler styled by Zhan Beleniuk – provided items for a raffle of gifts among those who join the collection and donate any amount.

I call on Ukrainians, friends and fans from abroad to join the great goal and break the record for the speed of closing the collection, save hundreds of lives of Ukrainian soldiers and become a part of the victory in the future, added the athlete.
