Yaroslava Maguchih became the champion of the Diamond League in high jump for the third time in a row

Ukrainian track and field athlete Yaroslava Maguchih triumphed in the 2024 Diamond League super final in the high jump. Her compatriot Iryna Herashchenko finished third.

22-year-old Ukrainian won the decisive stage of the current season of the tournament. The winning result of the Olympic champion of Paris – 1.97 m. This is reported by Suspilne Sport.

Yaroslava Maguchykh started her performances with a mark of 1.92 m. She took this milestone and all subsequent ones on the first try. Up to a height of 1.97 m, the Ukrainian track and field athlete remained with one competitor – Nikolay Olislagers from Australia. She cleared the mark of 1.97 m on the second attempt, but was unable to clear 2.01 m.

As a result, Maguchih won thanks to fewer attempts. For the third time in a row, she became the best in the results of the Diamond League season.Instead, Herashchenko's result of 1.92 m was enough for the bronze award.

Yaroslava Maguchih – native of Dnipro, world record holder in high jump. She won the championship titles of Ukraine (2021), Europe (2022, 2024) and the world (2023).

The first international successes of the track and field athlete came in 2018. Then she triumphed at the European Championship among young people with a record height (1.94 m). In May 2019, she became the youngest winner of the Diamond League stage in history, and at the 2020 Olympics she won a bronze award.

This year, at the Diamond League stage in Paris, she broke the world record (2.09 m) held by the Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova 37 years old. A new landmark from Maguchih – 2.10 m. At the 2024 Olympic Games, the Ukrainian won gold with a result of 2.00 m.
