There have been rumors that Xiaomi is working on creating its own processor for smartphones. This is reported by Gizmochina.
Known insider Yogesh Brar shared information that the project is moving forward, and even details about the possible performance of this chip appeared. There are already several companies on the market that use their own processors in smartphones, among them Google, Huawei, Apple and Samsung.
Now Xiaomi can join this list. According to Brar, the new processor will be based on TSMC N4P technology and will have a built-in 5G modem from Unisoc.
In terms of performance, this processor may have similar specifications to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which was released in 2021. This is in line with earlier rumors that Xiaomi is working on a 4nm chip with Unisoc.
Also, the insider said that Xiaomi could introduce its own chip as early as the first half of 2025. In addition, the company plans to release several more innovative products next year. However, these are just rumors so far, so they should be treated with caution.
