Samsung competes with budget smartphone manufacturers by offering long-term software support, and also a new smartphone model that can receive Android 20 OS.

Samsung will release budget phones to compete with the well-known “Chinese”. The update will include the Galaxy A16 5G with Android 14. This is reported by the Tehnofan resource.

Samsung and Google now offer long-term support programs for their flagships. At most, Samsung is ready to take another step to compete with Xiaomi, Redmi and other low-cost smartphone manufacturers. While they provide even budget models with 6-year software support, Samsung is preparing an answer.

The first budget Samsung model may be the Galaxy A16 5G with Android 14, which will receive Android 20 in the future. In particular, it is already known that the Galaxy A16 5G will receive a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen, Full HD+ resolution and 90 Hz frame rate, Exynos 1330 chipset, 4, 6 or 8 GB of RAM, 128 or 256 GB of flash memory.

As for the battery, it will have a capacity of 50 C, a standard headphone jack and IP54 protection. The weight of the device will be 200 grams, dimensions – 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.9 mm.

In terms of design, the smartphone is adapted to the design of the A series. On the back panel, as before — three cameras located vertically, as well as an LED flash. The back panel has a glossy finish and looks like it's made of glass. On the side of the device there is a “key island” — volume and power buttons with a built-in fingerprint scanner.
