On the New York Mercantile Exchange, WTI oil futures for October delivery are trading at $ 40.23 a barrel, up 5.09% as of this writing.

The US Dollar Index Futures, which measures the US dollar against a basket of six major currencies, was up 0.12% to trade at $ 93.198.
In terms of other commodities traded on ICE, Brent oil futures for November delivery rose 4.37% to $ 42.30 a barrel, and the difference in price between the Brent oil and WTI oil contracts was 2.07 dollars per barrel.
