World's smallest fully functional excavator unveiled

Nano Tracks N320 – is a miniature remote control excavator that, although only 1/64 the size of the real thing, is not a toy, but a fully functional excavator.

According to Oddity Central, it features 6 fully independent, proportional motors giving you precise control over every movement, as well as an electronic slip ring, independently controlled boom, bucket and individual tracks. You may not be able to fit into its cockpit to operate it manually, but the Nano Tracks N320 comes with an extremely accurate remote control with available modes. One offers industry standard ISO control (Caterpillar control), while the other allows you to control the tracks independently, just like a real excavator.

According to founder Jonathan Abbott, it all started a few years ago when he found a group of people on YouTube who liked to play with tiny, fully functional radio-controlled excavators. He was intrigued, so he started looking for these miniature excavators on the Internet, but couldn't find anything. Then he decided to build one for himself. Jonathan learned how to use CAD, bought a 3D printer, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Jonathan's first creations were made of resin, but it turned out to be fragile and unstable at this scale, so he turned his attention to other, stronger materials. The Nano Tracks N320 prototype took about 2,300 hours of painstaking work to create, but now Abbott and his team have a repeatable process they can use to bring the world's smallest functional excavator to the masses.

The Nano Tracks Excavator The N320 was launched on Kickstarter with a crowdfunding goal of $20,000. The campaign was a resounding success, with Jonathan Abbott able to raise over $268,000 in the 70 days before the Kickstarter fundraiser ended.
