World record: the beards of 89 men were braided into a 60-meter braid

>> World Record/Guinness Book of Records

Beard lovers from all over the United States gathered at the Main Street Pier in Daytona Beach, Florida and set a world record. They are united in a 60-meter long chain.

The length of the connected facial hair corresponds to the average height of a 20-story building or the length of two blue whales. The Guinness Book of Records writes about it.

Beard Team USA gathered at the National Beard and Mustache Championships in Florida to set two new world records and break their own record for the world's longest beard chain.

89 men joined their chin hair together together, resulting in a “spike” almost 60 meters long. This corresponds to the average height of a 20-story building or the length of two blue whales. Another record was taken by mustache wearers – they managed to weave a chain six meters long.

Beard Team USA creative director Bryan Nelso said breaking the record was really amazing.

There were a lot of people we didn't know when creating the new chains, so it was quite nerve-wracking, – he said in an interview with Guinness World Records.

The competition took place last fall, but the officially set records were entered in the Guinness Book of Records only now. The championship takes place each year in different parts of the US, traveling across the country.

The Beardies broke their previous record of 150ft 10.75in (45.99m) with a hairy new mark of 195ft 3in (over 59 m). Once the beards were connected, contestants had to remain in this position for at least 30 seconds for the record to count.
