Ukrainian show business is developing at a rapid pace. New performers and bands appear almost every day. And on World Music Day, October 12, we will share with you a selection of young Ukrainian artists.
I'll say right away that there are so many young Ukrainian artists that we would spend several hours just listing them. In our selection from Radio MAXIMUM there will be only a small part that is definitely worth paying attention to!
Lilu45
Lilu45 is a popular Ukrainian singer. At first, she posted her songs and covers on tiktok. Her real name is Lyudmila Bilousova. Previously, her creative works were in Russian, but since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, she switched to Ukrainian. Her songs are powerful and apt, and the lyrics are important and about our present.

Once in an interview, she explained why Lilu45?
“Lila” because my mother used to have the nickname “Lelya”. And when I was 12-15 years old, I was too lazy to figure out how to sign up on Instagram. I just entered the name “Lila” and the number “45” was free. And when the team and I were choosing a pseudonym later, we decided to leave it as it is. Although now we justify it and say that “Lilu45” is the facelessness of the modern world, that everyone chooses a nickname behind which responsibility is hidden. However, there is no super-deep meaning in the nickname. And why does everything have to make sense?

SadSvit
SadSvit is a Ukrainian synth-pop and alt-pop performer, composer, and songwriter. His real name is Bohdan Rozvadovskyi. The artist's creative output includes several albums – “Cassette”, “20&21”, “Neon Dream”. He also has two mini-albums “Sumatoha” and “Cold” jointly with Sad Novelist.
Bohdan was born on May 1, 2004 in Ivano-Frankivsk. And he got his education at Vasyl Stefanyk Prykarpatsky National University.

Bohdan's nickname consists of two words:
- the first English word Sad – sad;
- the second word Svit – a transliteration of the Ukrainian word Світ .
So, the nickname means “Sad World”.
Rohata Zhaba
This band from Kharkiv has existed since 2019. He plays in the country-folk style. The team has several mini-albums – “Somewhere Under the Clouds” and “Following the Coal”, as well as several singles. The band consists of five members:
- songwriter, soloist and guitarist Mykhailo Baranovskyi;
- artist and percussionist Anya Ptitsya;
- cajon player, cameraman and editor Evgeny Frankel;
- violinist Alisa Shevtsova;
- bass guitarist and sound engineer Chester Ivanena.

The history of the band Children of Engineers started in 2020. True, the team members themselves met 10 years earlier, in 2010! Serhii Ptukhov, then a student, and now the band's bassist, played garage rock with his friends in Chernihiv. This was the predecessor of today's children of engineers.
Sergiy said that he loved and loves to write songs. Therefore, he had a desire to realize his musical potential, and also tried to create his own band. He combines his musical career with work in IT.
He considers himself the initiator of the creation of the Children of Engineers collective. According to him, a chance meeting in Kyiv made it possible to turn the dream into reality. There he saw the future soloist of the band Oleksandra Kopachevska.
I was lucky enough to meet Sasha by chance, and I am grateful to the world that we met at that party of mutual friends, where I accidentally heard as Sasha sings,

It is interesting that Sasha herself said that she was almost not in touch with music before the band was created. And she also works in IT.
Figurat
Just this summer, Figurat released their debut album. Dmytro Alekseenko hides under this pseudonym. Going back to the record, it lacks confidence about every word in every track.
The album was called Vse Odno. It diversifies the psychological portrait of a local artist. We are led beyond banal manifestos, as well as naive sighs. It appears before us deeper and more complex.

DK Energetik
As noted by the “Sluh” publication, currently “DK Energetik” is perhaps the most important collective of the Ukrainian post-punk scene. Last year, the band released two records: “Youth” and “Shlyah”. With them, the participants destroyed stereotypes about the genre. As it turned out, it is not outdated, dead or too simple. What's more, post-punk can sound both interesting and technical.

SHUMEI is wildly popular. He recorded many powerful songs both solo and in duets. The song “Storms”, which he performed together with ZLATA OGNEVICH, deserves special attention. This composition broke the charts. On YouTube alone, her clip has been viewed more than 34 million times.
NAZVA
And here is the Galician-Donbass Ukrainian music band. It was created in 2019 by Pavlo Gots from Lviv and Yaroslav Yakovenko from Horlivka.
As the guys say, they play “alternative ethno-art chaos”. They create their music on double bass, viola, keyboards, as well as floor tom.
It is interesting that they started their creative career as a musical theater. The guys created plays about the Shot Revival, as well as soundtracks for art exhibitions.

This is interesting! In 2023, their composition “Sigele-Miguele” was TOP-1 in Ukrainian Shazam. On YouTube alone, the video for this song has been viewed more than 1.9 million times.
Batzhanna
Singer Kazhanna is actually called Hanna. And she herself is from Poltava. True, the girl has been living in Odessa for the past year. It is interesting that in her family she was the only one who connected her life with creativity and became a singer. And a popular one!
She has not only been involved in music since childhood, but also had an acting education and worked in the theater. True, she ended this career because she had a fear of monotony.
I have always played comedic roles, there is no seriousness in me. I can't sit in one place and play the same role for several years – I wouldn't be able to stand it,

It is interesting that Kazhanna was actively talked about just recently. And all because the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, posted a link to her new song in his telegram.

YAKTAK is another wildly popular name today. He is a real hitmaker. And his real name is Yaroslav Karpuk. A guy from Volyn. He took part in the “Voice of the Country” music project, as well as in the “Black Sea Games” contest, where he managed to win the grand prize.
His songs have millions of views. His fans are crazy about him. And he was also a finalist of the National Selection for Eurovision 2024. However, it was not without a scandal then. The performer was accused of plagiarism, but he rejected all such statements.
