British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made a grim forecast about the threat of a nuclear war.

According to him, for the first time since the Cuban Missile Crisis, the world is so close to this terrible tragedy .

He stated this during his campaign speech.

— Our NATO allies warn that if dictator Putin succeeds in Ukraine, they could be next. Putin's recklessness has brought us closer to dangerous nuclear escalation than at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis— he emphasized, writes the Independent.

The Caribbean crisis

The acute political confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union in 1962.

It arose as a result of the US deployment of medium-range Jupiter missiles on Turkish territory, which, if launched, could reach the main industrial centers of the USSR, including Moscow.

In response, the Kremlin ordered the deployment of tactical and ballistic missiles  on the island Cuba, in close proximity to the US coast.

The crisis could lead to nuclear war.
