Why your smartphone won't connect to the Internet and how to fix it

Sometimes smartphones refuse to connect to the network, causing users to worry: is everything okay with their phone and how to fix the problem.

Problems with connecting to the Internet on a smartphone can be associated with several main reasons.

Sometimes the problem lies with the device itself. These can be power saving settings, blocking or restrictions that disable the Internet connection, driver problems or settings for switching between different networks. Another reason is problems with the network itself.

This can be interference with the router, unstable connection or failures on the part of the Internet provider. Human intervention can also be the cause – incorrect entry of the Wi-Fi password, errors in the settings or even forgotten account replenishment.

If the smartphone does not connect to the Internet, there are several steps that can help solve the problem. Let's start by checking the connection. Make sure your phone is connected to a working Wi-Fi network or that mobile data is activated if you are using it to connect.

The next step — going into airplane mode for a few seconds and then shutting down. It may help to reset your connection settings. Also, restarting the device may resolve connectivity issues if the error is due to a temporary error.

If the smartphone is connected to Wi-Fi, but the connection does not work properly, you should try to delete the network in the settings and connect again by entering the password again. Sometimes connection issues can be caused by data limits on your device, so it's important to make sure you don't exceed your data limit.

It is worth clearing the cache of the browser or applications, because the accumulated data can prevent a normal connection. It is also recommended to check whether there are any restrictions on Internet access, such as parental controls or other restrictions.

If the smartphone does not connect to Wi-Fi, but the status “saved” is displayed, you need to check the router settings. Reboot the router, check its settings to make sure it broadcasts the network correctly.

Another possible problem – incorrect time and date settings on the phone, which can cause authentication failures. In some cases, it helps to change the DHCP settings to a static IP or vice versa. If MAC address filtering is enabled on the router, please make sure that the MAC address of the device is allowed.
