In social networks, a real challenge – film a cat's reaction to cucumbers/Photo: unsplash.com Social networks are full of videos that show cats shuddering or jumping at the sight of a cucumber. Pet owners quietly put a vegetable next to the animal, and an unsuspecting cat is scared of a cucumber. Often a poor animal is shocked by the sight of a cucumber or jumps almost a kilometer in fear.
Why cats are afraid of cucumbers
Veterinarians and cat psychologists explain this behavior simply – it's a combination of instinct and surprise. In fact, animals do not have an innate fear of cucumbers. The fact is that cats are very sensitive to their surroundings, listening and sniffing everything. Therefore, the sudden appearance of something will make them get scared and jump.
When the owners furtively put down a cucumber while the cat is distracted, the animals are surprised. Imagine yourself in their place. Do not ignore instinct. It is worth knowing that cucumbers resemble snakes. Primal instinct tells animals that snakes are dangerous and they should react accordingly.
