When you absolutely cannot charge your smartphone through the cigarette lighter in the car

Today, gadgets are indispensable helpers of Ukrainians and motorists are no exception. In this regard, the ability to charge portable electronics directly in the cabin has become the most important option of a modern car. Often, drivers charge through the cigarette lighter, but sometimes it is absolutely impossible to do this.

The key reason for potential problems with this method of recharging lies in the difference in voltage and amperage between the usual charging of the gadget and the on-board network of the car. A typical smartphone, for example, uses the current in the charger at the level of 1A with a voltage of up to 5 Volts. At the same time, in the car network, as a rule, the voltage is already 12 Volts. If you connect the device directly to the cigarette lighter, you can cause irreparable damage to it.

First of all, the "symptom" such incompatibility is the overheating of the gadget, the battery of which is strongly overstressed at high voltage. This can negatively affect its resource or completely disable it.

Most often this happens when drivers use "non-native" chargers. It is better to charge using original chargers, and also, if possible, use on-board USB slots or sockets, which are already adapted for charging gadgets, rather than a cigarette lighter.
