When will Ukrainian mobile operators start turning off their 3G networks and why?

Mobile operators will start turning off their 3G networks this year. This is needed to free up «space» for 4G and providing faster and better services.

This was announced by the National Commission for State Regulation in the Scope of Electronic Communications, Radio Frequency Spectrum and Provision of Postal Services (NKEC).

So mobile operators must notify their subscribers before turning off 3G in their regions.

«If your phone already supports 4G, no action is&need», — the message states. — «If your smartphone does not support 4G/LTE, consider replacing your device with a more modern one. This will allow you to stay connected and use mobile Internet without restrictions.

NKEK notes that the shutdown of 3G will not affect the ability to make calls, send SMS or use other basic services.

At the same time, for high-speed Internet, it is worth switching to 4G now to avoid inconveniences in the future.

As reported, in order to improve the 4G network, Kyivstar will shut down on February 25, 2025. 3G network in Lviv, Lviv region, Zhovkva, Vynnyky, and on January 28, 2025 in Smila.
