What to do if your phone falls into water: the best tips from the experts

The situation when the phone accidentally falls into water happens quite often, and many people are looking for ways save your gadget. How to act to minimize damage? Let's try to figure it out step by step, thanks to the advice of specialists of service centers.

1. Turn off your phone

The first and most important step — is to immediately turn off the smartphone. Even a small electrical impulse combined with moisture can damage the chips, resulting in serious damage, sometimes beyond repair.

2. Remove the battery and SIM card

If your device has a removable battery — this is great because without power the risk of damage is reduced. In addition, it is worth removing the SIM card and memory card, as they may deteriorate under the influence of moisture.

3. Refrain from trying to turn on your phone

After dropping your phone in water, it's important to take your time turning it on to see if it's working. This will only increase the risk of damage.

4. Hairdryer — not the best helper

You should not use a hair dryer to dry the phone. The air stream can push moisture into even harder-to-reach places inside the device.

5. Rice can help, but not save

A popular way — put the phone in a container with rice. Yes, the rice will absorb the moisture, but it won't solve the problem completely. For a reliable recovery, it is better to contact a service center.

If your phone has fallen into a more aggressive liquid, such as beer or juice, you need to contact specialists as soon as possible, because residual sugar and dyes can cause serious damage.
