Apple is working on an ambitious update to its voice assistant Siri, planning to integrate advanced artificial intelligence features into it by 2026. It's part of a broader Apple Intelligence initiative that began rolling out in September 2024 with the launch of the iPhone 15.
What else is known
The first update included new Siri features such as a refreshed interface, improved reply suggestions in Messages, and improved email categorization in… Mail. Other changes include text editing tools. Additional features such as ChatGPT integration are expected to arrive in December.
Apple’s big AI push is set for next year, with new updates that will make Siri more personalized. However, a full Siri upgrade based on large-scale language models won’t come until 2026. This version of Siri is expected to be more conversational and compete with AI assistants from companies like OpenAI and Google.
Apple Intelligence will initially be available in English in the US, expanding to other English-speaking countries in December, and in April 2025 – to other languages.
