Cortina d’Ampezzo – Saturday, 13.02.2021, 09:14
“Not World Cup-worthy!” – “My heart is bleeding!” – “We are far from a nice descent!”
After the first training session for the World Cup downhill on the new track in Cortina d’Ampezzo, there was a lot of discussion, sometimes the waves went up. Dominik Paris sharply criticized the course setting before the Vertigine jump, Beat Feuz just shook his head.
The excitement was quickly taken out of the sails by Hannes Trinkl after the training, by announcing changes to the course setting.
Race director Markus Waldner is calm about the criticism and explains: “We took the safe path.”
The “Salto Vertigine” is a challenge for the course setter: “If you are 5 km / h too fast, you will fly into the flat.”
Regarding the sometimes loud sounds, Waldner said casually: “Many have scolded us, but we don’t care. Everyone should stay calm. We want everyone to reach the goal safely.”
The course was adjusted for the second training run (from 1 p.m.).
The approach to the Vertigine should now be more fluid. In the passage after that, the traverse was also repositioned.
