The Volkswagen company officially presented the ninth generation of the Passat model. For the first time in the model's 50-year history, the car will be available only in the “station wagon” body. This is the press service of Volkswagen.

The car is built on the modernized MQB Evo platform. It is already known to the automotive world for the new Golf, and the future Tiguan and Audi A3 will be built on it. Compared to its predecessor, the car's wheelbase has increased by 50 mm.

It is known that the new Passat will receive a plug-in hybrid modification for the first time. Combining an electric motor with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, the power plant develops a total of 272 hp. Thanks to the battery with a capacity of 19.7 kWh. the car can travel up to 100 km on electric traction.

Among other options of engines – “soft” a 1.5 eTSI hybrid with a capacity of 150 hp, a pair of 2.0 TSI options for 204 and 265 hp, as well as three turbodiesels with a capacity of 120 to 190 hp. The novelty from Volkswagen is available only with a robotic DSG transmission, as well as in front- and all-wheel drive configurations.

It is emphasized that the legroom for rear passengers in the cabin has increased by 50 mm, and the luggage space has increased by 40 liters and in the original position is 690 liters. If you fold the backrests of the back row, this value will increase to 1920 liters.

Global sales of the new Volkswagen Passat will begin in the spring of 2024. According to preliminary data, the Ukrainian premiere will also take place by the summer of next year. But the more precise date of the new product's appearance on the Ukrainian market will be known later.
