Expected this fall, Turn will be Noovo’s first drama series. Inspired by the lives of professional athletes, this original fiction is about performance society.
“I was seduced by this story which features these exceptional people who must learn to live differently, after having spent their lives striving for excellence”, explains Sophie Parizeau, Senior Director, Fiction and Digital Content for Bell Media.
Turn tells the story of an Olympic medalist in short track speed skating, Frédérique Lessard (Charlotte Aubin), in the light of her sports retirement. While she had imagined starting a family with her spouse (Émile Schneider), the events will take a very different turn, where you have to learn to live without performing.
“This series, which has guts, fits perfectly with the vision we have for the channel, with its modern and unique subject, but above all new,” adds Sophie Parizeau.
“Even if this is not the story of her life, it was after a first collaboration with Marianne St-Gelais that the idea for the series came to us. There is something fascinating and true about this little-known post-athletic world that is surprisingly part of the daily life of many people, regardless of field. We rarely shed light on this obligatory passage experienced by high-level competitors, which very often turns into a quest for identity. Turn brings a different perspective and shows the other side of the coin of these years of hard work and depicts the collateral impacts on the entourage of these medalists, ”said Louis Morissette, producer for KOTV.
Speed skater Marianne St-Gelais acts as a content consultant on the project.
On the distribution side, we will also find Marie-Thérèse Fortin, Sylvain Marcel, Juliette Gosselin, Anglesh Major, Mani Soleymanlou and Audrey Roger.
Finally, Catherine Therrien ensures the realization of this Virage de Noovo, while Kim Lévesque-Lizotte and Marie-Hélène Lebeau-Taschereau, supported by Louis Morissette, are writing.
