Washington football head coach Ron Rivera appears to have gained the upper hand in his battle with cancer, according to a post by his daughter Courtney on Twitter.
The 59-year-old man was diagnosed with lymph node cancer in August 2020. He finished his chemotherapy treatments last November.
“Thank you for the love and the prayers. I just hung up the phone with mom, and dad leaves the hospital. [Ron Rivera] is officially cured of cancer! ” Courtney Rivera wrote on her social media Thursday.
The Washington driver didn’t fail often in his first season at the helm of the NFL team. Despite seven weeks of treatment, he was able to lead the capital city club to the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
Rivera’s roster showed a 7-9 regular season record, good for the No. 1 spot in the National Association’s Eastern section.
