Once there, Dr. Stanislawa Goluba, the archaeologist leading the research who intervened to explore this tomb, discovered that the bodies of two children were inside. But that's not the strangest part. Archaeologists note that one of the two bodies had particular characteristics like an anti-vampire device. Indeed, as he reports in a publication shared on Facebook, the researcher explains that one of the children was decapitated and his skull had been placed face down on a stone. For Dr. Stanislawa Goluba, this arrangement, like the way in which the skeletons were arranged, “appears to correspond to ancient burial methods used to prevent a person considered to be a demonic entity from emerging from the grave“.

Poland has a large number of such burials

The bones discovered were dated to the Middle Ages. Archaeologists removed them from the burial site for further analysis.

This is not the first time that such a discovery has been made in Poland. In 2013, Six skeletons were discovered in the northwest of the country, in different anti-vampire burials. This kind of ritual is not surprising as some historians note because beliefs about vampires were taken very seriously in Poland in the 17th century.
