How can personal deadlines and small achievable goals help improve productivity?
1. Set deadlines for each task
If you do not set a deadline, you will spend as much time as you want on the task. But if you put a time limit, the pressure you'll feel trying to beat the clock will force you to work faster and finish before the deadline.
2. Divide projects into smaller tasks
If you break projects down into small tasks, you can accomplish a small goal in one day instead of one major goal over several days, weeks, or even months. Constant feeling of progress – it's what boosts morale and productivity in the long run.
3. Work with other people
If you feel like you've mastered a skill but want to increase your speed, try working with other people. When there's a chance that you're being watched and judged for what you're doing, your stress levels reach optimal levels, prompting you to work harder and faster.
4. Work with ultradian rhythms
It is best to work in a 90-minute sprint when your body is naturally energized, followed by a 30-minute rest break when your body is naturally exhausted. This allows you to take full advantage of your body's energy level fluctuations.
5. Listen to white noise
White noise supports concentration because it is constant. It sounds the same and your brain gets used to it. Sound distractions no longer affect you. This increases your concentration on the task and allows you to work faster.
6. Calm Your Inner Perfectionist
Perfection – the enemy of productivity. Revisiting work, triple-checking for mistakes, and doing extra work slows down progress, drains your energy, and can destroy your emotional health.
