US to Revive Abrams Tank Casting: Why It Matters

Since the 1990s, the US has stopped building Abrams tanks from scratch, but now, thanks to state funding, the production line will be restored.

< p>General Dynamics Land Systems will receive additional investment in the coming years to restart production of Abrams tanks from scratch. This reports the local edition of Lima Ohio.

Journalists spoke with representatives of the manufacturer of armored vehicles to learn about the future of General Dynamics Land Systems.

“Our future here is very good. Investments are now extremely big. We have a lot of future investments, plus our contracts are going well,” — said senior company representative Gary Hudding.

JSMC's budget is projected to grow to $287.1 million in 2028, with $300 million expected in 2029 to upgrade the plant to automate processes. For the first time since the 1990s, the production of tank hulls will be resumed.

Currently, the plant produces:

• Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 tanks;
• Stryker A1 armored personnel carriers;
• M10 Booker combat vehicle;
• NAMER armored personnel carrier;
• M-SHORAD armored personnel carrier.

Factory, on which employs 856 people, manufactures products for many countries, including Ukraine.

“We produce various machines throughout our process. Our main product is the main battle tank. We also produce other machines there , Stryker, for example. We also have several new programs in the prototype stage,” — explained Hudding.
