The US Space Force is preparing to deploy ground-based satellite signal jamming systems — Remote Modular Terminals (RMT).
This is reported by Defensenews.com.
The US Space Force plans to deploy its first batch of new ground-based satellite communication jamming systems in the coming months, designed to interfere with signals from enemy spacecraft. Space Operations Command has approved the remote modular terminals for initial deployment, with the jammers soon to be delivered to military users.
The Space Force plans to field 11 systems as part of the initial rollout, giving units a chance to use the system before it is accepted into service. The program has funding to build about 160, and the service expects to need about 200 in the coming years.
