US successfully launches Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile over 6,700 km

Amid the presidential election, the United States Defense Forces conducted a test launch of a Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile.

This was reported on the website of the United States Air Force Global Strike Command.

A joint team of Air Force Global Strike Command personnel and a Navy crew launched an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile on November 5, 2024, at 11:01 p.m. Pacific Time from an air force base in California.

"This test launch is part of a routine and periodic events designed to demonstrate that the United States nuclear deterrent is safe, secure, and effective in deterring 21st century threats and reassuring our allies,” the statement said.

Such tests have occurred more than 300 times, and this test is not a result of current world events, the command noted.

The ICBM carrier traveled approximately 4,200 miles (more than 6,700 kilometers) to the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site in the Marshall Islands.

The test launch was the culmination of months of preparations involving numerous government partners.

Recall that the United States recently condemned the testing of an intercontinental ballistic missile in the DPRK, which was launched towards Japan.

The launch of this missile took place several hours after the heads of the defense departments of South Korea and the United States condemned the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia.
