U.S. forces launch airstrikes in eastern Syria, which were directed against infrastructure facilities used by groups associated with the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
In a statement, US Central Command Communications Director Colonel Joe Buccino said that, at the direction of President Joe Biden, precision strikes were carried out against the Syrian city of Deir ez-Zari. The targets were infrastructure facilities used by groups associated with the IRGC.
“Today's strikes were needed to protect American personnel. The United States has taken proportionate, thoughtful action to reduce the risk of escalation and minimize the risk of casualties,” – said Buccino.
