China may deploy hypersonic weapons to sink ships in the Pacific.
That's prompting the US Navy to move forward with a plan to arm some of its ships with Patriot missile interceptors, sources told Reuters.
An industry official said the deployment of the PAC-3 MSE interceptor, which is used primarily by US ground forces, on Navy ships represents an advancement in Chinese missile technology, including the use of hypersonic weapons.

“The development roadmap calls for additional testing, which will include launching a PAC-3 MSE from a ship and testing communications with the SPY-1 radar,” a Navy spokesman told the agency.
