The US government on Tuesday imposed sanctions on the Russian-based company Zservers for facilitating cyberattacks, the US Treasury Department said. According to the department, the company provided support to the LockBit hacker group in carrying out cyberattacks with the aim of extorting money. In addition, two Russian citizens were sanctioned, who, according to the US Treasury Department, are the “main administrators” of Zservers.

According to the US Treasury Department, Russians Roman Berezhny and Yegor Glebov led a cybercrime group that carried out cyberattacks that affected more than 1,000 companies in the US and other countries. The US Department of Justice added that the hackers received more than $16 million during their activities. It is noted that Berezhny and Glibov were arrested earlier in February. However, it is not stated where this happened.
