Unmanned flying wing: Turkish ANKA-3 UAV passed flight tests (video)

During a test flight, the drone dropped a high-precision Tolun minibomb with a range of over 100 km. The ammunition is intended for the destruction of fortified objects and other strong targets.

The Turkish defense corporation Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) conducted another successful test of the ANKA-3 unmanned aerial vehicle, created according to the “flying wing” scheme. During the latest test, the drone used portable weapons to prove its high combat capabilities. Defense24 reported on this on October 22.

The first ANKA-3 flight demonstration took place in December last year. Then the test flight lasted about 70 minutes and demonstrated the high aerodynamic characteristics of the drone. Its designs provide for the presence of stealth characteristics, which enables the use of hardware in areas with limited access and for covert operations in the territory.

Recent tests of the ANKA-3 have shown the effectiveness of the use of guided weapons. During the flight over the test site in the Konya-Karapinar region, the aircraft dropped a high-precision mini-bomb “Tolun” developed by the Turkish company Aselsan.

The bomb, equipped with a GPS/INS satellite inertial guidance system, has a range of more than 100 km after being dropped from 12 km high. Weighing in at 135kg, the Tolun uses technology to penetrate reinforced concrete structures up to 1m thick, making it ideal for destroying solid targets.

The tests were accompanied by an online broadcast watched by TAI engineers from its technology center in Istanbul . The published video from a bird's eye view and the destructive power of the weapon, which ensures the success of the tests and great prospects for the use of ANKA-3 in combat operations.
