(New York) Tom Hanks will host a 90-minute prime-time special to celebrate Joe Biden’s inauguration as President of the United States, featuring Justin Timberlake, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato and Ant Clemons.
“I was speechless when I was asked to play! Exclaimed singer Demi Lovato on Instagram. Ant Celmons was also euphoric: “To say this is a dream come true would be an understatement! ”
Justin Timberlake announced that he and Clemons will perform their new song Better days. “This song was our way of doing what little we could to encourage everyone to have hope,” he said.
The show will air live on ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and MSNBC starting at 8:30 p.m. on January 20. It will also be broadcast on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Amazon Prime Video, Microsoft Bing, NewsNOW, DirectTV and U-verse.
According to the producers, the event “will showcase the resilience, heroism and unified commitment of the American people to come together as a nation to heal and rebuild.”
The nomination will be different from other presidential nominations due to the riot last week on Capitol Hill. Security will be extremely strict around the area.
The event was already going to be more modest due to the COVID-19 pandemic; Joe Biden had asked fans to stay home and watch the event from a distance. In line with restrictions to slow the spread of the virus, traditional activities, such as the parade and inaugural balls, will be virtual.
