The American airline United Airlines will test Elon Musk's Starlink satellite communication technology for high-speed in-flight internet on planes in February, The Independent reports.
According to the airline, the first commercial Embraer E-175 aircraft equipped with Starlink will fly in the spring. And the first flight of the mainline airline is expected to take place by December of this year.
It is noted that the service will be free for all members of the MileagePlus program — United Airlines' frequent flyer program, which offers rewards for travel on certain ticket types.
United Airlines plans to retrofit its entire regional fleet with two-cabin aircraft with Starlink technology by the end of 2025.
