President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a law on clarifying the activities of the Ukrainian Institute of Books to support distributors of publishing products and provide state aid for the purchase of books.

This is reported by RBC- Ukraine with reference to draft law No. 11251.

On Tuesday, June 18, Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed Law No. 11251 “On clarifying the activities of the Ukrainian Institute of Books to support distributors of publishing products and provide state aid for the purchase of books”.

According to the law, Ukrainians who turn 18 , will be able to receive an electronic certificate in the amount of UAH 908 for the purchase of books. An application for obtaining a certificate can be submitted through the Diya public services service within a year.

370 million UAH will be allocated from the state budget to implement the program.. After the end of martial law in Ukraine, one of the parents will be able to take advantage of this opportunity at the birth of a child.

And then the 370 million hryvnias allocated in the budget for this program will have a chance from the cards of 18-year-old lucky people who will receive books in the Ukrainian language of their choice, to replenish the accounts of Ukrainian publishers, who will publish an additional 1.5-2 million copies with these funds.” , – wrote Oleksandra Koval, director of the “Ukrainian Book Institute”.

In addition, according to the draft law, bookstores will receive state subsidies, which should compensate them for the rent for the premises.

There is a clear procedure for providing subsidies: a list of documents (now it will be possible to submit duly certified copies), clear deadlines for considering applications (10 days) and publishing the results (5 days), explained People's Deputy Yevgenia Kravchuk, who is one of initiators of the law.

Distributors of publishing products will also be able to receive subsidies. It will be provided in the amount of rent paid for the quarter, but cannot exceed 20% of the total cost of products sold through specialized bookstores.
