When the letter ” appears on the phone E”, the connection instantly becomes worse, and the Internet practically disappears. Let's tell you what the letter “E” is, why it often appears on the smartphones of Ukrainians.
What is the letter “E” on the phone and why did it appear?
The appearance of the letter E in the status bar of the phone means that the communication standard has changed to EDGE. This is an intermediate standard between 2G and 3G, the maximum speed of which does not exceed 384 kbps. This may be enough to download messages in the messenger, but not enough to view videos, photos and other content – if such files are opened, then with a minimum resolution and very slowly.
A similar standard is encountered most often on the road between settlements where there is no coverage of more modern communication standards. Communication degrades to "EDGE" outside the city, in the country – where the towers of mobile operators are far away or are rare.
In Ukraine, this icon often began to appear due to blackouts, as operators deliberately reduce the load on the base station, which is powered by a generator without light.< /p>
The letter “E” will appear; maybe in places that drown out the signal from towers or have obstacles:
- In basements and basement floors.
- In elevators.
- In dense forest or mountains.
- In a densely populated area with a large number of other subscribers of the same operator.
- In remote villages, steppes, mountains, etc.
It often happens that the connection deteriorates suddenly, the letter "E" appears, and the Internet disappears – at the same time, the subscriber did not change his location or leave the city. If the problem is not on the operator's side (for example, temporary technical problems or a high load on the tower), then in this case you can adjust the signal in several ways.
Restarting the mobile Internet via flight mode< br />
If the usual mobile data and phone reset didn't help, you need to completely reset the wireless connections via airplane mode. For this it is necessary:
- Turn on flight mode.
- Wait about 10-15 seconds.
- Turn off flight mode.
After that connection is most often restored and the smartphone starts working with more modern communication standards.
Change network type
It happens that the smartphone cannot connect to the high-speed 4G network (for example, due to a high load on it) and then immediately switches to EDGE. To avoid this, it is necessary to manually switch to the 3G standard, which can work better than 4G and will be many times faster than “E”. To do this:
- Open the phone settings.
- Go to the section "Mobile data and SIM cards".
- Click on the line Preferred type networks.
- Select the “3G/2G (auto)” option.
After that, the smartphone should switch to the 3G network, and it will be possible to return to 4G later, when communication with this standard is established.
Select operator manually
In this section of the SIM card settings, there is an item that allows you to select your mobile operator. By default, automatic selection is enabled, which must be turned off and the provider selected from the list manually.
Switch to another operator
Not always the problem can be solved by smartphone settings, because the problem is not theirs or about temporary communication problems. If the letter "E" appears stably in the same place (for example, in the subscriber's apartment), then the reason is often in the communication operator itself – its tower is too far away or the equipment is not advanced enough to ensure a stable connection. of all subscribers.
In this case, you can restore normal Internet and mobile communication only if you change the communication provider. You can find out which operator catches the best in a specific area through acquaintances, neighbors, forums on the Internet or the coverage map on the official website of the provider.
