Ukrainian motorists are increasingly choosing crossovers and SUVs. Their share among the total number of new ones is constantly growing and in 2022 reached a record 75%. This is evidenced by the statistics of the information and analytical group Auto-Consulting, according to Focus.
Back in the early 2000s, crossovers and SUVs accounted for only 7-8% of new cars. Demand for them began to grow rapidly about 15 years ago. By 2010, the share of cross-country vehicles in the market had grown to 24%, in 2017 it was 53%, and in 2021 it was already 73%.
Growth continues – in June the share of crossovers and SUVs grew to 78.8% , and if you add pickups – then almost up to 81%. It is noteworthy that in the segment of new electric cars, 86.4% of cars are crossovers.
However, in absolute terms, off-road vehicle sales are not growing. In 2008, 100 thousand units were sold (623 thousand of all new cars), and 75.5 thousand in 2021 (100 thousand of all new cars).
Leading models in the segment are also known. Traditionally, the first two places are shared by Renault Duster and Toyota RAV4.
