Elizabeth II was famous for her openness and always answered letters from children from Ukraine. Shortly before her death, the 96-year-old Queen of Great Britain responded with gratitude to a 10-year-old schoolboy from Ukrainka near Kyiv, who sent a painted portrait of congratulations to the monarch.

This was reported on the Facebook page of the Ukrainka City Council "Ukrainian Society".

Maxim Gerya, a student of the Academic Lyceum No. 1, was very interested in Elizabeth II and tried to find out more about the person of the British Queen. The boy I read a lot about the monarch and drew him.

And so I decided to send one of these portraits to Elizabeth II personally, adding a letter of congratulations to the king on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of her reign.

"August 24, quite unexpectedly, on the eve of his birthday, Maxim received the desired response letter, which he will keep for the rest of his life. After all, this is not only a memory of the letter from the queen itself, but also from now on – the memory of the fact that he managed to receive it from a real legend who has recently passed away”, – the publication says.

A photo of the letter is also shown. This is what the test letter says: “I retell you my gratitude for your kind message on the occasion of the seventieth anniversary of my ascension to the throne.”
