Ukrainian schoolchildren will soon be able to start learning Polish and take the UPE

The Ukrainian government is considering the possibility of including the Polish language in the list of subjects for which an external independent assessment is carried out.

According to the Ministry of Reintegration, this issue was discussed during a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk with representatives of the Ministry of Education and the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment. There was also talk about the possibility of education for Ukrainians in Poland and Poles in Ukraine.

According to Vereshchuk, uniting with the Poles is the key to sustainable development and security, and education and language – these are the main tools with which such association begins.

“We must move on to concrete actions in order to integrate into the European space. First step — learning the languages of neighboring countries. And this step should be mutual: the Poles are ready to include Ukrainian as a foreign language in the list of subjects. At the same time, the Ukrainian side must develop a strategy for passing exams in the Polish language. And if for this it is necessary to make changes to the legislation, it is necessary to start this process today, », — the minister noted

For citizens of Poland, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine is working out an algorithm for recognizing and enrolling the results of Egzamin maturalny (Polish matura) upon admission to Ukrainian educational institutions.

The Vice Prime Minister noted the support of registered in parliament of the government bill No. 8228-1, which will simplify the process of admission to Ukrainian and Polish universities for both our citizens and Poles.

At the same time, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science reported on the conditions for admission for Ukrainian graduates to Polish educational institutions. Thus, Ukrainian documents on basic general secondary education (certificates of completion of the 9th grade) are recognized in Poland. Just as the results of the UPE are related to admission to Polish higher educational institutions.

“The Ukrainian side is open to cooperation with Poland at all levels in order to provide our youth with access to high-quality European education”, – summarized by Irina Vereshchuk.
