In the village of Chortovets in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, men set a Ukrainian record by performing the ritual dance of the Serben. A video of the action was published by a researcher at the museum, Ihor Oliynyk.

225 men joined hands and formed a “chain” 2350 meters long. Setting the record lasted 1.5 hours. This was announced by the National Museum of Folk Art of Hutsul Region and Pokuttia on Facebook.

Serben is an ancient ritual dance that resembles the Serbian military men's dance. It is performed exclusively by men and boys on the Easter holiday.

The rite of driving a Serben is unique and preserved only in the Carpathian village of Chortovets, Kolomiysky district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. The villagers want the Pokut Serben, which is already a visiting card of the village of Chortovets, to be included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine.

The ritual male dance of the Serben was recorded in the “Book of Records of Ukraine” as a new achievements: the number of participants is 225, the length of the chain of performers is 2350 m, the time spent is 1.5 hours, the museum reported.

Dancers hold hands and dance around the church, singing, and then move through the village to another, and so on for several hours. The action is accompanied by a bagpipe.
