Ukrainian Konstantin Shiring, who was arrested in Crimea and sentenced to 12 years in prison allegedly for espionage, died in prison, the press service of the KKE informs, adding that he suffered from heart disease.
The political prisoner died in colony No. 5, located in the city of Novotroitskoye, Orenburg Region. Human rights activists note that Shearing needed an operation, but the Russian Federation did not provide him with the necessary medical care.
In the Russian colony, they did not give official confirmation of the death of a Ukrainian. They only noted that an investigation was underway.
Recall that the Ukrainian FSB detained Konstantin Shiring on April 15, 2020, along with “a Russian military man suspected of issuing state secrets”; Tatyana Kuzmenko. They were accused of “espionage”.
In October 2021, the political prisoner was sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime. Despite calls from Kyiv to release the Ukrainian, in June last year he was sent to a colony in the Orenburg region.
