The year 2025 in Ukraine can be called the year of missiles, just as drones of various configurations were actively developed in previous years, so the missile complex of Ukraine is entering new tracks. In addition to the well-known “Neptune”, the drone missile “Palyanytsya” has already been put into serial production.
The next step will be the final tests and the launch of production of the “people's” missile “Trembita”. It was developed by volunteer engineers in a year and a half. It is expected that the rocket will be ready by the beginning of 2026.
What is known about the development
For the first time, Trembita became known in August 2023. Then, French journalists spoke with the developers. Trembita was conceived not only as a missile that could hit targets on enemy territory, but also as a decoy for enemy air defense. Due to its low cost, it can be used in this way. Electronics for precise guidance will be built into the strike missile.
Characteristics of Trembita
The characteristics declared in 2023 were almost exactly repeated by journalists later. With a loaded weight of the missile of 100 kg, the weight of the warhead — 20 kg. It can be thermobaric and combined high-explosive fragmentation.
- The range of destruction is over 140 km. The range is also called up to 200 km, and a special long-range version “to Moscow” is also reported (this distance is about 650 km).
- The speed of “Trembita” is over 400 km/hour, the flight altitude is from 30 to 2000 meters. It is the ability of the missile to fly at low altitude that makes it a difficult target for enemy air defenses.
- The “Trembita” itself has a 30-liter pulse jet engine, is 2 meters long, and is launched from a ramp. It is assumed that the missile will be guided via GPS.
Price of “Trembita”
The cost, which is called by all sources – 10 thousand dollars (equivalent to over 420 thousand UAH), which potentially makes it “the cheapest deep strike munition in the world”. For comparison, ATACMS is used, costing over a million dollars (42 million UAH), and Russian “Caliber” missiles for 6.5 million dollars. (273 million UAH). Of this amount — 7 thousand dollars (295 thousand UAH) is spent on a high-tech guidance system.
