The «Birds of the Magyar» brigade received the latest detectors capable of detecting drones on fiber optics. The commander of the unit, Robert Brovdi (Magyar), reported that the unit is already using the first systems for detecting and destroying such drones, Military reports.
Ukrainian specialists have developed a mobile radar station that can detect drones at a distance of several kilometers. In the released video, a Ukrainian drone managed to detect and intercept a Russian FPV drone on fiber-optic control.
This is probably a Russian drone called “Vandal”, which is characterized by high image quality and a stable signal. The main advantage of such drones is their resistance to electronic warfare (EW) systems, since they do not use radio signals for control and video transmission. At the same time, these UAVs have a limited range due to the length of the fiber-optic cable and the additional weight of the coil.
Magyar emphasized that mobile radar stations should be massively used on the front to effectively detect and destroy enemy FPV drones. Ukrainian forces have already captured such devices on several occasions, which allows them to improve their methods of combating them.
