September 7 and 8 are Ukrainian days in the program of the Venice Film Festival, which runs from August 31 to September 10. The festival will host the world premiere of a new Ukrainian film by Antonio Lukich “Luxembourg, Luxembourg”, created with the support of the State Film Agency of Ukraine. The film will be presented in the Horizons competition program.
Ukrainian Days at the Venice Film Festival
There will also be a discussion panel “Ukrainian film industry during the war”, as well as a presentation of Ukrainian art projects at various stages of production.
Among the speakers: Ambassador of Ukraine to Italy Yaroslav Melnyk, Head of the State Film Agency of Ukraine Maryna Kuderchuk, Chairman of the Council for State Support of Cinematography Artem Kolyubaev, curator of the Ukrainian Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale Boris Filonenko, directors Antonio Lukich and Evgeny Afinevsky, producer Polina Tolmacheva, actress and director Daria Tregubova, producer Andrey Nogin, and artist Pavel Makov.
We plan to strengthen diplomatic and artistic ties with Italy, as well as highlight the importance l cultural sanctions and a ban on Russian cinema, since it is a carrier of propaganda and xenophobia (not only against Ukrainians or the peoples of the former USSR).
Despite all the difficulties, we think not only about the real film industry, but also about what we can offer the viewer tomorrow and after our victory!
Recall that on August 31, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the organizers and guests of the opening ceremony of the 79th Venice Film Festival.
