Ukraine will receive American guided air bombs JSOW: what is known about them

The advantage of these missiles is their accuracy, which favorably distinguishes them from Russian FABs, KABs.

This was told by the chairman Ivan Tymochko of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“These are invisible missiles with a flight range of about 120 km. From negative, problematic – in order to use them as effectively as possible, they must be launched from a height within 10 km.

In modern conditions of large-scale war, serious saturation of air defense systems – both at the enemy and at us – the plane can of course climb to such a height, but it is extremely difficult and there are serious risks, since there is a high chance of being damaged. Therefore, in terms of guided air bombs nowadays, aviation operates, as a rule, at low altitudes, and their (bomb) flight range – it is 100 km+ in the best case,– he explained

According to Tymochka, glider air bombs have an even shorter flight range, which forces the aircraft to fly very close to the front to hit specific targets.< /p>

“We don't have such a rich air defense system, but we certainly shot down their planes. Secondly, the enemy has heavily saturated the air now with reconnaissance drones that fly deep. Drones often fly over the Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih and even fly into the Kyiv region. They are shot down, but there are risks. But in order to use the guided missiles that we will receive from our allies, it will be necessary to solve many problems”, – admitted the military.

In particular, one of the important nuances – is the amount of JSOW. In his opinion, the Armed Forces will definitely not have as many of them as the Russians, so that it would also be possible to produce 100-200 pieces per day. Firstly, we don't have that much aviation, and secondly – they are many times more expensive than Russian bombs.

“At the same time, they are accurate enough, so one missile – one target hit. As for the mass of their use, we are unlikely to know yet. All of this will happen as a matter of fact, when border Russian warehouses and bases will burst into flames. But there is also the question of whether there will be permission to use these missiles on Russian territories”, – concluded Tymochko.
